Did you get all of the courses
approved when back at NMBU?
I am writing this report after I come
back to NMBU, feeling very happy about the one semester that I have studied in
Wageningen university.
Deyue, Aquaculture student.
Deyue, Aquaculture student.
The study
Aquaculture is really exceptional, we have at least 3 teachers teach us each
course, they were all very professional in their field, also very kindly to
help students. My favorite course is “aquaculture production system”, which is
really interesting. As I have already took a course “design fish farm” in NMBU,
these two courses have some same chapters but also some different points. For
example, in Norway, Aquaculture also use RAS system, but we usually don’t use
duckweeds system. However, in Netherlands, they use duckweeds system which
combine together with the RAS system. Form learning these two courses I feel
that I understand the aquaculture production much better than before, I also
realize that we should design the production system based on the environment.
Such as, if we build a fish farm in a place where the field rent is very
expensive, then duckweed system usually is not possible.
I am now quite
interested in RAS system and about to do my master thesis about the RAS. The
exchange period in Wageningen makes me quite sure, which field I am really
interested, and what I want to work in the future.
The study
environment in Wageningen university is quite stressed, I take the course from
8am to 5pm every workday, and teachers usually will give us a lot of work or
assignment, pushing us to study more about these courses. The whole study
period is very intensive and we don’t have a lot of time to do reviewing. So we
have to understand course each day which means we maybe have to take extra time
to study every day. However, I still think this is the right way to study.
After the exchange, I finally feel that I have learned a lot during this
semester. My knowledge /understanding about aquaculture improved a lot. I think
in the later study in NMBU, I will also use this method to study, giving more
pressure in study to push myself learning more.
I get €410/month during the exchange period, which could cover my accommodation
rent, so its very good for me. I can spend my own money on traveling. I am a
big fan of traveling. Also, Netherlands, this country is quite convenient to go
Germany, Belgian, France and other countries.
Also, at this
moment, I have already get my courses grade and my course will be approved
soon
I think for me, the
only thing I feel not good is that when I choose a course, the Wageningen
university exchange coordinator told me maybe I could not be admitted in this
course since it will might be full of their own students. But that is really
good course which I want to attend in. I feel a bit regret about it.
I am so grateful to
have had this opportunity to live and study in Wageningen university. I have
made more friends and understand Dutch culture and food. I think Erasmus+ is an
amazing way for young people to learn about other parts of Europe. So thank
you!
