Are you satisfied with your exchange, and would you recommend others to do the same?
I am very satisfied with my exchange at Wageningen university. I would recommend it to anyone for the quality of th teachings, the diversity of courses I could follow, the depth of the topics studied. Regarding Agroecology, I can particularly recommend the following courses (that are part of the Master in Organic Agriculture at Wageningen):
- Globalization and Sustainability or Food Production and Consumption
- Introduction to Organic Production Systems
- Ecological design and Permaculture
- Analysis and Design of Organic Farming Systems.
These courses really helped me to get more confident with Agroecology. The content was very good and the teachings methods very rich, with plenty of excursions, teamwork, use of modelling software, observation of Nature, field excursion (10 days in a Belgium goat farm!). Very inspiring in a nutshell.
Was it difficult to get the courses you wanted at the host university?
No it has been quite easy, because I followed mainly the course from the Farming Systems and Ecology department, which is the one of the master in Organic Agriculture, very similar to the Msc Agroecos.
Did you get all of the courses approved when back at NMBU?
I don't know yet, but they have been approved in my learning agreement.
Are you satisfied with the academic quality at the host university?
Definitely, the support of teachers is great, there is a high diversity in the teachings methods as I expressed above. I learned much more that I could expect about Agroecology and farming systems.
How beneficial was the Erasmus grant?
As the Erasmus Grant was pretty high from NMBU compared to what I got the first semester in order to live in Norway, I can say that yes it was very useful. It roughly covered my rent for every month at Wageningen.
Did you obtain what you wanted by going on exchange?
Definitely, this semester was the best semester of my life. I met extraordinary people in my student community village called Droevendaal. I found back my self-confidence, I could express myself naturally, creatively, I have been stimulated by a fantastic social life and by high-quality courses.
I strongly recommend to study in Wageningen which is an amazing place to live in.
