Hello, I’m Ying and this is my study report. :)
I am
a master student of feed manufacturing technology, or say animal nutrition. I
was very lucky to went on Erasmus exchange from autumn 2019 til autumn 2020 at
Wageningen University and Research. To write a direct and clear study report
about my overall exchange experiences, I plan to write it as in this Q&A
format. :) And I hope this will be helpful to anyone interested in going on an
exchange!
- Are you
satisfied with your exchange, and would you recommend others to do the same?
Yes, I
definitely recommend fellow students who want to experience foreign cultures,
make new friends, and learn new knowledge about things you are interested in.
- Was it
difficult to get the courses you wanted at the host university?
Well, in
general, it is not difficult to sign up for a course as long as you do it on
time. However, I suggest you talk to your study correspondent of the host
university and talk about it. Because for some courses, they may require some
pre-courses or knowledge before you sign up, which you can also see on the
course information page.
- Did you get all of the courses approved when back at NMBU?
Yes, I did.
- Are you
satisfied with the academic quality at the host university?
I’m very
satisfied with the academic quality of Wageningen University, and this is also
the major reason why I went on exchange there. As you probably knew, WUR is a
world-top university in agriculture.
- How
beneficial was the Erasmus grant?
It coved my
rent which is also the biggest expense when I was there. As an exchange
student, you cannot do part-jobs according to the agreement, so the Erasmus
grant really helped me economically.
- Did you
obtain what you wanted by going on exchange?
Absolutely. Academically, I took all the courses I wanted (and also changed some courses on the learning agreement to other courses I was more interested in during the exchange period) and learned a lot of new and useful knowledge. Socially, I made new friends and had a lot of beautiful memories with them. I met people comes from diverse cultures and had chances to know them a little better. If I had a chance, I would love to do it again!
