Q. Are you satisfied with your exchange, and would you recommend others to do the same?
Ans. I am very
much satisfied with my exchange program. I highly recommend other students do
the same for at least one semester.
Q. Was it
difficult to get the courses you wanted at the host university?
Ans. No, it
was not difficult to get. You just need to fill up the courses what you want to
study. You can find easily available courses/moduels in Aber website. Courses I
did at the host university was kind of hard to get a place since the courses
are popular and many people want to apply and study. So it was kind of
competitive to get a place. But if you contact the department or global
opportunities office early, you have a better chance of getting a place.
Bachelor program students are only allowed to choose the course module starting
with 2 (Eg. IP 23820) and master students are with 3 (eg. LC 35220). The teaching style is similar
to NMBU, I had lecture time and seminar time. The only difference is to bring
and scan your student ID for the attendance record. The university uses
Blackboard and Student Records for the course, and exam info and student info.
Q. Did you get all of the courses approved when back at NMBU?
Ans. Yes. As
long as all courses you took in exchange are relevant to your study program,
you will get approval. You just need to fill the online application form in
NMBU website.
Q. Are you
satisfied with the academic quality at the host university?
Ans. Yes,
indeed. This is my most satisfying one as lectures are more related to political
science. There are also planty of life science courses. Courses prespective of
teaching are depends on department. The grading system is different from NMBU.
They have two exams, the first exam result counts for 40% and the second for
60% (it may differ). The
Hugh Owen Library will give you an excellent
experience and has various facilities. I miss working on papers in the
library.
Q. How beneficial was the Erasmus grant?
Ans. It
was very beneficial. As for me, since I only did one semester, I had to pay an
accommodation fee for the whole semester at once. So the grant was the perfect
amount for the fee. The fee is 130 pounds for a week which is PJM housing. You
can choose other options too like private student housing in town (a little bit
cheaper). If you stay in student housing, you do not need to pay a gym
membership fee (including a swimming pool). Most houses are located on the top
of the hill. So if you love to walk every day to the hill, it is good for you.
For me, it was hard to walk back home as it was on the top of the hill. So
mostly I took a taxi from the town and it cost 6 pounds, with the bus it is 1
pound.
Q. Did
you obtain what you wanted by going on exchange?
Yes. Indeed,
I obtained what I expected like new friends from different countries, new
learning styles, and knowledge and experiences. The view from the hill to see
the town and Sun rise and set are very stunning and satisfied experiences.
Social life in Aber is another satisfaction for students as town is full with
students and students are very social and easy to friend with them.
