It has been a very nice and unique
experience for me to exchange in UK. Actually I am very satisfied with the two
major decisions I have made in the past two years. The first one is to pursue
my master degree in Norway, which give me a precious opportunity to leave the
10-year non-change working life behind and embarking a total new life journey
that enables me with new knowledge and new friends. The second decision I have
made is to exchange in UK, which is totally different from what I had
experienced in Norway. I would like to encourage all the students who want to
acquire different living and study experience to participate in the Erasmus
exchange program.
I have been exchanged in University of
Aberystwyth in Wales for 4 months from September 23, 2019 to January 23, 2020.
University of Aberystwyth is one of the most famous university in Wales and it
has the oldest international politics department. It is located in the middle
of the mountain of a small and lovely tourist seaside city. The University is
very big and has a very big library with numerous books and 24-hour access. The
school has provided a lot of courses and students have a lot of options to
choose the courses they want. I am satisfied with the three courses I have
choose. Each class will host 10-15 students, so there will be intense
student-faculty interaction. There are also a lot of related seminars each week
and guest lectures from famous experts, which will give you more opportunity to
learn the most recent and advanced research findings.
In Aber, you can join different student
clubs and have colorful school lifes. Sometimes, school will arrange trips to
other cities, which is more convenient for students to travel. The student
dormitories are well facilitated, for example, the PJM student dorms are like a
student village with dozens of two-story apartments and common study rooms.
Both from campus and student dormitory, you can obtain the beautiful sea views.
Going downtown, there are plenty of pubs, shops and restaurants. You can enjoy
a good meal or amazing night with close friends. For me, I have got along well
with my roommates, three of them are local British and two French exchange
students. We had a traditional British Christmas and birthday parties.
I really appreciate the Erasmus grant,
which can cover half to two third of my rent and greatly relieve my financial
burden. During this Erasmus exchange, I have not only obtained new knowledge,
experienced different culture and education style, but also made new friends. I
would recommend all the students to go on exchange.
